Carrie writes: Hi! As we're getting ready for our baby to arrive, we're looking for a special crib for our nursery. I have my eye on the ducduc Cabana Canopy Crib (pictured at the link below). I love the simple lines of this crib, but am not in love with the price. Do you have any suggestions of similar cribs at a less expensive price or diy projects to turn a regular crib into a canopy crib?

I'm not sure that's practical...but thought I'd put it out there since everyone always has such good ideas! Thanks!
Please share any ideas and info with Carrie in the comments below...thanks!

I just saw this today on ikeahacker (scroll down to Tanja's canopy bed): http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com/2008/06/bedroom-series-2-bedposts-can-be-hacked.html
It would have to be modified a bit for a crib, but it is a good starting point.
seems like you could go with any of the Ikea cribs if you like the look -- and then just have the canopy suspended from the ceiling from some cup hooks or something.
I'm with melonkelli. The Ikea Gulliver would be a very close match sans the canopy.
WOW, that's ugly.
It seems like you could bolt posts to the outside of any crib, and then you would have a canopy. Depending on the assembly of the crib, you could maybe use your tall posts instead of the crib's corner posts...
