Good Questions: Should I Get This Platform Bed?

Pin it button big

Hello AT,

I love the platform bed look, but have never had one before. I am afraid that I will lose all the nice bounce in my mattress and I hesitant to give up my regular bed. Are there any benefits to platforms besides just looking cool?

This is the bed I like (above)from PlushInteriors.com. It looks great and the price is right $541, but I don't know if the seller is reliable or what the quality of the bed is. Does anyone have any recommendations for a platform bed with headboard like this?

Thanks as always, CatherineF

Dear CatherineF,

We have used platform beds and boxspring beds interchangeably for years and YES you will find that platforms are firmer - not a lot, but somewhat. They are also more stable - in a nice way - since there are not all those springs bouncing around. We recommend platform beds, and you shouldn't worry as it won't totally change your experience.

As for the bed you like from Plush Interiors, it is very nice in the picture. We don't know Plush Interiors but mid five hundreds for a bedframe like this is somewhat on the low end of the middle range for price points, so don't expect the quality to be TOO high. However, for under $700 this is about as good as you can do. Jump up to $1200 and you will have a whole new range of choice.

Anyone else?
