The summer sun is almost here, and Kelly has a great question for us: "Does anyone have recommendations for a safe, non-toxic sunscreen for this baby? I hate to use some of the products out there...
Thanks!
Kelly"
Thanks for the question Kelly, and we love the picture! Who wouldn't want to protect that face? And you're absolutely right to want to find a natural sunscreen- it's amazing how many toxic chemicals we're often rubbing into our skin.
We came upon UV Natural Lotion the other day in ABC Carpet and Home, of all places. UV Baby was and is the only lotion safe for babies under 6 months. It has an SPF of 30 and strengthens healthy skin cell growth.
A great resource for cosmetic/skin product safety is the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep site. Click here for a list and safety rating of baby sunscreens.
Anyone else have suggestions for Kelly and Ari?

We use Blue Lizard

and
Alba

Alba is great for everyday or for hiking. If you are actually going in the ocean or extremely fair like my husband, the Blue Lizard is fantastic.
I heard Burts Bees just came out with an all-natural sunscreen.
Also, Jason products makes bunch of organic sunscreens.
California Baby! I have seen it at Whole Foods and Target.
Why do you think plain old sunscreen is toxic? Is there evidence that is so?
I didn't care for Burt's Bees only because of the Patcholi sent.
I LOVE Badger Balm products and just bought their sunscreen and it smells divine:
