We laughed when we got your email because we actually had this photo bookmarked from when we saw it on The Style Files...
Anyone know where Matt can find a rug like this?
Rugs & Carpets
Are those handles straps that are riveted to the drawer fronts? I love that! In the right kitchen, that would look great with recycled old worn belts... No clue about the rug...
looks a bit like bolon...
That is Scandinavian design from a Danish company called - Tine K Home.http://www.tinekhome.dk/www/inspirations/cd05.html
basically it's a cotton dhurrie (flatweave). you can find them at wisteria.com, madeleine weinrib. IKEA sells various smaller sizes for dirt cheap. they are generally quite expensive (and long, long wearing).
Ruby Beets has some rockin' options! Check them out here: http://www.rubybeets.com/textiles/carpets/ruby-beets-made-to-order-rugs.shtmlI have seen the Ikea ones as well and quite enjoy them.
I got mine from Ikea
Pakobel rugs, an Ebay store, sells kilims and dhurries that look a lot like the one you've pictured. I have a similar one from them in black and off-white stripes, made of wool. It wears extremely well, considering that it is an antique. The prices on Pakobel's site are great! I got mine for less than $30 with shipping, because I was the only bidder! One thing to watch for, some of them are used and have slight imperfections, which are stated on each auction.
Hey Matt,I just now got the new IKEA catalog in my mailbox -- check out the rug on the cover (this post somehow slipped my mind):http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/chicago/first_look_ikea_2009_catalog-58365And teeze,Those pulls are from Tine K, but they look like these:
Thanks so much, Leslie and everyone else, for all the good links! My fiance and I shouldn't have a problem finding something we like now. Sorry to steal your thunder on the Tine K post, what an amazing place!
For Kitchen's I like the Pappelina rugs and runners from Sweden. They are made from woven plastic, super easy to clean and come in lots of sizes/designs.http://www.nest-living.com/pages/pappelina
