Hello AT,
Have you ever featured a product for the home, its a small plastic container that you put some of your wall paint in so you dont have to keep a big (dirty) can of paint around your house? This little item comes with a brush and is very easy to use and VERY clean! I cant find it anywhere but thought I saw it here - any ideas? Does my question get answered by AT even though I dont have a pic and this prob wont be posted online?
Thanks!! Megan

Dear Megan,
We don't think we've featured something like this, but we did feature this contraption from Dutch Boy.
Anyone know the answer here?

I saw them at my local Target a week or so ago--I think they were marked down. Made by Rubbermaid.
Well, here's some that are kind of like shoe polish containers:

But I know what you're looking for, and I can't remember what they call it. I know that I saw it in a catalog just the other day, though.
You're thinking of the Rubbermaid PaintBuddy. http://www.paintbuddy.com/
There is something yet else than that. There's something that really has a paint brush in the lid of it. However, I remember thinking that the brush, itself, looked kind of coarse, as if it wouldn't apply paint in any subtle kind of way, whatsoever. That RubberMaid thing looks better.
I spent a week searching for those containers with the brush last year...and now I can't remember where the hell I found them! However, I do remember that they were an absurb $20 each and I decided they weren't worth it--three for nine bucks is much better, and I agree that the brush looked crummy.
I saw several options at Lowe's. Bought 2 different kinds for my weekend project. If I wasn't lazy, I'd take & post photos of them, but I'm sure google would give you lots of choices. And lowes.com
Oh, also look in the archives. Now I remember them being mentioned in the H&H Roundup several weeks ago. Rubbermaid and Shur-Line were mentioned, as I recall.
Okay, I'm on crack (or they're on sale). They're called Qwikies, and not as expensive as I remember. I'm still getting the foam ones, so thanks Curtis!

Ive seen them at Home Depot.
I saw this one in Real Simple and thought it looked handy, it's from Wagners.

Megan - this is your sister Julie, if you buy one can you get me one too?
I saw this one in Real Simple and thought it looked handy, it's from Wagners. Although it's only for latex (not oil) paint.

One of my friends bought the Quikie Touch ups and they're great. The ones Kerry mention look better, although perhaps smaller, but better priced. I will tell you what I told my friend. Once you open that container and air hits the brush, the next time you use it - whether you've cleaned the brush or not - paint will harden. Paint ages like anything else even when its sealed.
My suggestion would be to purchase a Tupperware, Rubbermaid, or other well sealing plasticware container and use that. You can keep foam brushes stored away and discard after each use. You'll end up spending less, and having cleaner containers. As pretty as all these other are, they aren't as large as one thinks. Just my opinion.....
the second part of your question is one i was thinking too, which questions get posted and which ignored? i have sent a few pleas for help(with pics) to no avail....
A paint saving contraption complete with built-in paint roller is available from Lowe's.
It's the product someone mentioned above made by Rubbermaid and is called the "Paint Buddy." They sell it for $9.97; you can purchase it online at http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=46942-1077-QL57930&lpage=none.
The Paint Buddy won an Idea Award from BusinessWeek and was forecasted to be one of their best-selling products for 2005. You can read more about it (and see much better pictures) at http://images.businessweek.com/ss/05/06/idea2005/source/60.htm.
Happy painting!
I got a set of these from Improvements.com and the idea is better than the execution. I found that the sponge pad applicator fell off and the bottle didn't dispense the paint. Very, very disappointing. But I still filled them up and stored them. When I have touched up paint, I open the top and use a Q-tip or pour out a bit of paint. Not at all what I had in mind.
Is there a product that does the following:
1). Applies forced air to help drying the paint after it has been applied by say the paintbuddy system
2). A control feature where if desired the one should be able to apply lot of paint much faster and at locations one could control the flow and restrict teh amount of paint dispensed.
Thanks
