Is that the table? If so, uh, why not the chairs pictured there? While I'm not big on the hype of those chairs, I do think that they go perfectly with the table.

How about four white Panton chairs. Less leggy and the streamline look of this chair will go nice with the base of Cyclone Table.

We have a cyclone table and considered the eiffel chairs, but the combination felt too matchy-matchy and "DWR catalog", if you know what I mean. We decided to live with the Ikea dining chairs I already had for a while, and eventually realized they work pretty well with the cyclone table!

I have that table with 4 red vintage Saarinen side chairs covered in Knoll fabric around it. The chairs look really good with the table and the upholstered chairs look better to me than the chairs in that picture do becasue the upholstery adds some texture and softens the lines a bit.

I do like the idea of upholstered chairs, and agree the table could use some softening. We were considering the wood wishbone chairs, to add a natural element.

We have the Jam chairs by Calligaris and absolutely love them! The come in lots of colours and have a couple of options for the bases.

I have an original child's version of this table (a gift for my 3rd birthday). It came as a set with 2 white bertoia chairs (the metal frames were coated in rubber, if I remember) with yellow vinyl seat pads. I still have the table in my livingroom and even though the chairs have long since been destroyed from overuse, I can't forget what a perfect match they made.

I would suggest the eames side chairs with the dowel wooden base. The eiffel base are too busy. Even the panton chair. Now, the eiffel works really well with the saarinen table!

I have this same problem! I have been toiling over it. But I think that some out-of-the box ideas could work beautifully. I like that the substraight of the surface is a blond wood and that you could pair soft-looking wood chairs to pop out that color. I was thinking some Risom chairs. If you visit Knoll's website they have some images of the table with Saarinen upholstered chairs. Good luck!

Eames are far too expected, and the bases are toooooo matchy matchy. Risom/Nakashima would be too clunky next to the delicate base of the table.

Mario Bellini has a lovely little side chair in white. For more contrast/warmth a wooden chair would be okay if very simple. Jacobsen's Series 7 or even Wegner wishbone chairs.

The Eames chairs with wire bases don't quite work -- it looks a bit like Edward Scissorhands lives here. Too much skinny, pointy steel.

And I think the Eames wood dowel bases would just be too leggy. The base of the table is so strong -- the chair legs should not compete with it.

I would choose a chair with fairly soft lines (the shell chairs are soft in form, but the bases don't work). It doesn't have to be upholstered, but the "lines" should be soft. I'd also choose wood as it will counter the steel and laminate, but will also work with the exposed wood edge of the top.

i like LoriSF's idea... but if it were my decor i might mix the colors of the chairs or add a cushion here or there just to mix it up. Of course I don't know what your decor is like
