Jessica is looking for some ideas: Today I purchased the above two lounge chairs for dirt cheap at a local thrift shop. The label says "Ayers". There are wheels on the front two legs of each chair and the removable cushions are orange and green striped crushed velvet. First of all, I'm wondering about the approximate date of these chairs and the Ayers furniture brand. (I couldn't find much information digging around on the internet...) Secondly, I'm wondering what exactly to do with these chairs...I know they don't look like anything special now, but what I look at a piece of old furniture I see what it could be. With my summer break approaching and upcoming lack of homework, I'm feeling ambitious. I definitely would like to paint the wood... white, black, or maybe a bright color. However, I'm at a loss about what to do with the crushed velvet. It's in good shape. No rips, tears, stains, etc. It's rather soft and comfy. And the photo doesn't accurately portray the color. Should I be adventurous and reupholster the cushions? Or should I keep it intact and just give the wood a fresh coat of paint?
All advice and suggestions (no matter how bold or off-the-wall) will be much appreciated!
Please let Jessica know what you recommend in the comments below...thanks!
