Help, AT! I am going to visit my family in Worcester, MA (about an hour from Boston) and I wanted to know if there are any antique stores worth sniffing around in... mid century furniture/collectibles please...Even close to Worcester is fine (Shrewsbury, West Boylston, etc...)

Massachusetts antique dealers can be pretty hardcore. "Antiques" doesn't mean MCM -- it means furniture made by hand before the industrial revolution.
I'd recommend thrift shops.
Hi, I'm from Worcester. The best antique store in the area in my opinion is Northsidge Village Antiques, just 15 minutes away in Charlton. They are open Sat and Sun 11-4. They have a huge closing sale the weekend after Thanksgiving and then take a few months off to restock over the winter.

If you're not around on the weekends thrift stores may be the way to go, the Salvation Army on Cambridge Street may be your best bet for furniture, but it's hit or miss. If you do find anything though it will be very affordable!

This is a little out of the way, but we found an amazing antique/salvage store in Pembroke, Ma. We were looking for some big furniture items for our apartment and bought an amazing hoosier chest & giant antique armoir for less than $300 together. Some of the stuff is a little too "shabby chic" for my taste, but the owner has a great eye and the prices are incredible. She usually posts items on her website/blog so you know what is there before you go...it might be worth checking out! We just love what we got there and people are ALWAYS asking us where...

Ray's Wayside Furniture in West Boylston, route 140. It's an adventure, so much fun to poke around in!

If you're willing to travel a little, the town of Essex in Eastern Mass near the sea has some great antique stores: http://www.essexada.com/. I know that Spindler Antiques in Essex does have some 20th century pieces. Make sure to grab some seafood in Essex if you do visit there, as there are some famous spots there. North of Essex, the town of Newburyport also has some cool antique and furniture/home decor stores. Newburyport is a very pretty town on the water with good places to eat, and makes an excellent day trip.
