I'm having trouble finding a reasonably priced dining room table for our new small house (see floor plan). the living/dining room is one long space, so i'd like to have the flexibility of having an extension table or a drop leaf table (my dream table pictured, a wegner) so it won't overwhelm you when walking in the front door, but we would still be able to seat 8 people on occasion.

I'd like it to be solid wood and something that will last a long time. Also, is anyone else tired of the "espresso" stained furniture out there? I would like to find something in walnut or even oak or maple. My style is more mid-century modern than sleek/contemporary. We have a few vintage Danish pieces mixed with newer vintage-inspired furniture. And I don't want to spend more than $1,500 if possible.
Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!
There are often great mid-century drop leaf tables for sale on eBay, but if you're looking for a sure thing, you should take a look at the Ardre dropleaf table from Great Nordic Design. Ardre comes in solid birch or oak and is a little over your budget, at $1,798....but it does seat eight when fully open, and looks like it will fit your space nicely.
