Good Questions: Sources for the Drew Table?

Ana sent in a good question: I really, really want to find the Drew Bedside Table that was sold through Pottery Barn, but can't find it anywhere. Please let me know where I can get it.

If you're handy, you can probably put that together in about half an hour.

I have run into this problem before. The thing to keep in mind when shopping at places like CB2, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and ZGallerie is that they have a very rapid product cycle relative to the rest of the furniture industry. It is much closer to an apparel business model for a company like The Gap or Express. A piece may be available for as little as a few months or as many as a couple of years, but rarely longer than that unless it is a massive hit. Think of these products the way you would a limited edition run. If you see a product you think will work for you at one of these stores, you are wise to make a decision sooner rather than later. Keep the receipt and return it if it doesn't work, but hesitate at your peril. It could simply vanish from stores without notice (or clearance sale).

I agree with aladywhoknows, that would be pretty simple to make. I may have to build one myself!

I don't think it would be too expensive to have one made. It's a very basic design.

Rather than take the photo to a carpenter, how about trying a generic handy-man type craftsman and just have them cut the pieces for you. It looks to me like it consists of 11 pieces. Putting it together would then require some wood screws, wood putty (to fill in the counter-sunk screw holes) and perhaps some wood glue and then you can paint it whatever color floats your boat!
