Hey, AT
Since it's Bedroom Month, here is mine!
I have lived here for about 6 months and am slowlllllly still settling in. This is my 4th or 5th arrangement of furniture, and I think I'm finally happy with it. Very heavy on the Ikea, I know, but I have had to make-do with my budget.
The problem spots? The bare space beneath the window annoys me. I have also been looking for some low and wide bookshelves to replace my mismatched shelves, but haven't been able to find any. Since it's a rental unit, I've nixed the idea of building some heavy duty wall shelves.
Link To All Good Questions
As for future plans? I have some wall frames that I am going to put up with some artwork. I also want to take out the terrible vertical blinds and put up some roman blinds or something simple like that. And a bed skirt would be nice, although I don't know where I can get one that isn't ruffled.
As you can see, I am far from finished! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, AT!

Hey ATL- we love the walls and bedding! We'd change out the verticals asap. If people cant see in, matchstick blinds are a great cheap answer as they defuse light and look simple and stylish. We get ours at Home Depot for around $15. Also, Ikea does some good wood slat blinds cheap, too. As for the bedskirt, look for one with "inverted" or "box" pleats. Easy-peasy. Anyone else?

You may want to add a long bench below the window or perhaps 2 lounge chairs and a small table-not sure if you have the room for the chairs? It looks like you dont have any seating in your room.
You may want to look into drapes as a cost efficient option to the window treatments. I would buy some that went all the way to the floor.
Nice work and good luck!
Blinds that pick up the sort-of-neutral orange of the bedspread would be a huge improvement over those verticals. I'd be halfway tempted to look at bamboo roll-ups.
If you don't want a headboard, center that long piece of art over the bed to give it more of a sense of place.
There's nothing wrong with another IKEA run for shelves... maybe look at sideboards if you need depth and lowness, or think about something that goes more dramatically upward on the wall.
I would start with a headboard. You can even find a nice one at Ikea (I like the Malm in oak). If you're unhappy with the bare wall beneath the window, but don't have enough room for a piece of furniture, why not use that space for framed photos or art? For relatively no money, it will dress the wall without making it feel cluttered.
Martha Stewart @ KMart makes a bedskirt w/o ruffles.
Where did you get the bed linens? I'm looking for a simple pattern - ala amenity without the price tag?
Thanks for all the comments!! Now I'm thinking of just moving all my books to the living room and playing around w/some shelving in my room for just a few books and frames and stuff.
As for the bed linens, I got them at Ikea, of course! I too was looking for something along those lines [simple and tree-y] and lucked out. They aren't the best quality as they are a bit rough, but when I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping and I could be sleeping under sandpaper for all I care.
Thanks again, everyone.
I really love the colors in this room. Very soothing. Of course I love blue. Here are my thoughts:
I would stick with accents of chrome-- that works nicely with the blue wall. Get rid of anything gold. Or, do wood tones-- that would work nicely with the bedspread.
I agree that you should lose the books, or keep a few. I would totally lose those ugly IKEA tea light holders on top of the bookshelves. They're too contrived. The room is also lacking in scale-- the desk is too small and it faces the corner (how can you work like that?) If you don't like the silver/chrome accents, why not a big teak work table or something? You could put shelves above it. But think BIG BIG BIG-- all that smaller-scaled IKEA furniture and cutely accessories makes it look not-grown-up enough. Choose larger-scaled furnishings. Do you ever have guests in the room? Could you do some big, but not too big comfy chair in the corner in place of the CD's? Big furniture may make up for the cookie-cutter contruction of the room. Otherwise, I'd try to add some molding around the closet doors if you can (but I know it's a rental.)
Some darker wicker rustic basket under your nightstand will hide clutter and bedside accessories, too. And while I am at it, why not shifting the bedside table to the OTHER side of the bed, and shifting the bed over. If you lose the bookshelves-- moving the bed over will open the room up a big, and make it more inviting. Plus, when you need something, you won't have to walk around the bed to get to it.
Just my thoughts. Again, nice colors.

I'm not normally a fan of blue, but I really like this combination of the walls with the bedspread. Looks very fresh. Great that you are changing the verticals, I think that will make a big difference.
The main thing besides the verticals for me is the arrangement. Assuming this photo is taken from the doorway, I would prefer not to see the computer and all it's necessary belongings as the focal point when I first walk into the room, which it is for me now. Is it possible to swap the computer with the bed, as in the bed sitting diagonally across the room, if it fits? As John pointed out, I couldn't stand working facing the corner with my back to the door either.
I think that being drawn in by that funky bedspread instead of computer clutter might give the room the flow you are looking for.
