Q: I was hoping that some shopping savvy readers could help me find my dream bed. I *love* the Colette bed from C&B (shown here) but it is out of my price range and too big for my full sized mattress. I can't afford to buy a new mattress and mine is only two years old and extremely comfortable. I am in need of a real bed frame as my bed is being held up by used paint cans and love the look of chic upholstered bedframes. Please help!

West Elm?

or maybe overstock.com
I've seen a ton of cool antique/vintage full-sized wood beds (heywood wakefield and the like) out there.
I've come to think that queen beds were not a standard size in before the 1970s (pure conjecture on my part) because I've NEVER seen any queen-sized "vintage" beds
I don't think I've seen any upholstered ones, though. If you're willing to switch gears I bet vintage stores/antique stores might have some great options.
The Sofa Company is a great place to buy headboards... you can pick the frame, fabric, size etc. and it's really reasonably priced!
The Sofa Co
Yes - WestElm.
You have a great opportunity to find any number of beautiful vintage beds because of the size. And there are plenty in thrift stores and consignment shops
Here's another nod to vintage- my parents have a gorgeous antique wood bed frame they bought for a song- and it's a full. I'd consider being creative about it or trying to come up with some DIY options to possibly buy vintage & then personalize. Like JenPDX said though, most vintage is wood.

There is always the cliche Ikea upholstered bed. The Floro is only $379 for a fullsize: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S79871302. I actually checked this one out in the stores, and I don't normally like the Ikea beds because they are flimsy, but this one was pretty sturdy. Good luck!

Make it! I made one about a month ago using this tutorial - http://freckleschick.blogspot.com/2009/05/nailed-it.html
Like you, I'd been coveting the Colette, but couldn't justify it. My homemade version looks great, took about 1 1/2 hours and cost less than $75.
I actually just bought an upholstered bed from this place: www.clubfurniture.com. They were easy to deal with and the product looks pretty much as it did online. I only received my bed last Thursday so I can't yet speak for the long term wear and tear - but the frame seems reasonably sturdy so far.
These look up your alley:

What about this? http://www.inmod.com/skyline-metro-upholstered-bed.html
Or a bunch of wonderful ones in the post on decorology-

Wow - I think I'm going to try making one using freckleschick's tutorial too. Although I want to make mine about 3-4 inches thick vs. just the plywood and the batting. And I'll attach it to the wall with a large horizontal wood cleat so it doesn't move. Love it.
JYSK? for most things its very cheap (in quality) but i bought a bed frame and mattress there and so far it's amazing! and they have some great sales:

Urban Outfitters has some really nice-looking upholstered headboards for a low cost.

WorldMarket.com has beds at great prices. $400 for the fully upholstered bedframe shown in the above link. I bought this bed last year and love it. It's beautiful, looks much more expensive than it is, super easy to assemble, and goes with everything. I get compliments on it all the time and even my husband loves it. Gender neutral. LOVE this bed!!!
