Q: I recently stayed at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago + really liked the sofa they had in our room [small scale, wood surround, integrated table]. I foolishly left without seeing who made it. I’ve contacted the Fairmont with no response. Does anyone know who makes this sofa (larger photo below), or something similar?

The guest room furniture is custom designed by The Rockwell Group, who oversaw the 2008 renovation of the entire hotel.
The furniture was built by MF Mando's Inc, in Los Angeles.
Oh, and as for similar products,
Davis Furniture (commercial furniture) has a line called Palette that is similar. Gunlocke, also a commercial furniture manufacturer, has a product called sojourn that is similar. Neither of these sell directly to the public but they can put you in touch with a dealer who can arrange a sale. Either the manufacturer or the dealer should be able to direct you to a showroom where you can see and sit on a sample.
Chiasso sells something called the Aero sofa which has a few similar elements but is not as close as what Davis or Gunlocke offer.
Herman Miller sells a sofa designed by Mark Goetz that has a wood surround, and Holly Hunt has a wood surround sofa as well, called the Aspre, but neither of these have a built-in end table.
Who did you contact at the Fairmont? I've had easy success with getting their mattress and wonderful pillows. I spoke with the purchasing director at the Chicago Fairmont. Wonderful person to deal with.
