Lex is sofa shopping: I just moved into a new place and the *only* thing that I will be transferring from the old living room to the new one is this coffee table I got from Cost Plus World Market about a year ago.
The old decor was more of the global Morracan-ish and I want to switch themes entirely perhaps to something a little more contemporary casual.(Note: Include a pic of your problem and your question gets posted first.

The problem is I don't know what kind of sofa would match this table. Any suggestions? I'm open to anything, I just need some inspiration!

"contemporary casual" is a pretty big window.... what is your budget for the sofa?
This reminds me of the old sketch where the homeless tramp goes up to the wealthy person on the street and asks, "Do you have a coat that this button might fit?"

The perfect sofa would be the "Modern Milan" sofa by Quatrine. There use to be a location in the bay are, but they ship all over the world. The turned leg would be great with that table. Good luck. www.quatrinefurniture.com
i wouldn't decorate around this table......buy the best quality sofa you can afford and then later get a better table.....

That's exactly what I was thinking! And I happen to have a couch that is very similar to that one. I love the shape of it because it's not too contemporary and not too traditional. It's the perfect blend and has a lovely curve in the arms. What color were you thinking?
I agree. That is a lovely couch, and would look wonderful with that table.
Yes it was the arms that made me fall in love with that couch! I was thinking of a medium polished taupe color, like when you look at it you can't tell if it's grey or beige. Then I want to paint the walls a light stone grey, and have dark brown and red accent peices.
Hahaha, we have a love for the same arms, couch and color! My couch is also taupe. And I've painted my walls a blue gray, that also change in the light. I think it's a lovely combination, especially with the dark wood accent pieces, and will look great. But I'm obviously also biased. :)
That's my couch !! I just bought the 78" version in gray and I love it. When I first got it around Thanksgiving, the cushions were much firmer than the floor model in the store, but it's breaking in comfortably now. I did have to adjust to the low arms by propping pillows on them in order to lay down on the couch. It's very well made, looks timeless and sophisticated, and the delivery was painless and ahead of schedule (by about 2 weeks). They did raise their prices 20% for this year though which makes me a lot less likely to buy from them again though.
I love the Loring and recently considered it for myself but ultimately leaned away from it wondering if I would tire of such a strong design statement with those arms. I selected the Charlotte from Mitchell Gold Bob Williams in the standard sofa (it's under the sectionals on the website). I found the Charlotte's lines to be, at least to me, a little more timeless and a little more gender neutral. We also don't have a Room & Board in DC and I wanted to check out the sofa in person before purchasing.
