Hello AT,
My boyfriend and I recently bought a Philips 42" LCD flat screen TV. However, when we moved, he accidently broke the swivel stand that came with the TV. We don't have the option of mounting it on the wall at our new apartment, and Philips recently discontinued the TV and does not offer replacement stands...

I have scoured the internet, and cannot find a standard tabletop base for this TV. I was hoping you folks at Apartment Therapy might know where I should look! Its been 1 month since we have used our TV that cost us over $1000! Please help!
Thanks! Katie

One of the AT sites (can't remember if it was Tech or not) did a feature on flatscreen furniture - basically tv armoires that you can mount flat panels in or on. There's an Ikea version on the NYC homepage today. Perhaps in lieu of finding a base you could try one of those?
I went to home depot and bought a piece of 3x6ft sheet of 1.5 inch thick wood . . . attached a mount to it, put the tv on, then leaned it against the wall . . . i was thinking of buying a small cabinet to attach to the bottom of it, but haven't gotten around to it . . . this all cost me less than 100 with the mount . . .
I would have to second MrGaryLee's comment. If you are using a TV Stand/Console, just get some wood to attach the TV too using a standard wall mount kit, and secure the wood to the TV Stand. With a little paint or stain, it can be come a nice accent, or just fade into the background.
That's a good tip from MrGaryLee. I was going to suggest making something yourself...
You could probably use a plain hollow-core door, too. Just pass the bolts for the mount all the way thru and use big washers or a metal plate on the opposite side to secure the set to the door. Then either prop it up against a wall or bolt it to some other piece of furniture, like a sideboard.
