Lance writes: I have moved into my new condo in SF and have a combined Living/Dining/Kitchen area. I have gone for almost a year without a Table, because I cannot find the table I want or that will fit the space. I am seeking a rustic styled table made from solid wood that has a parsons style or thick chunky legs. AT recently featured a "what dining style describes you?" and I instantly loved that "Mixed Rustic" dining set with the exposed legs and natural look....

Unfortunately, I am unable to find where this table is from or where I might be able to purchase or have one made at a reasonable price. Does anyone know where I can find my own Mixed Rustic Table near SF?
Please share any sources, alternatives and ideas with Lance in the comments below...

Ercol Bar Stool
That appears to be the Big Sur Dining Table from Crate and Barrel...

I believe thats the Big Sur table from Crate and Barrel. I know that Gus Modern does a similar style called Chunk but unsure of cost. Gus is sold at Wingard Home in SF.
Too bad San Francisco is so far from Boston. The table in the 3rd and 4th photos of the next post (Lekker store) seems like what you're looking for. Maybe give them a call and ask who makes it.
This looks like the Big Sur table from Crate and Barrel.
That looks just like our table - which is the Big Sur Table from Crate and Barrell. Comes in two sizes - I think this is the longer of the two. It's solid white oak and when I say solid, I mean solid. It's fantastic. We have it paired with white Panton chairs but I'm loving the look with the metal.
Try the The Wooden Duck in Berkeley. The Nevada Table looks similar to the Mixed Rustic Table. They also create custom tables.

I'm almost certain that is the exact same table my boyfriend and I were looking at in Crate and Barrel! It's called Big Sur:

That reminds me of tables and chairs from the Sundancecatalog.com.
West elm has a modern farm dining table which looks like it might fit your bill in terms of looks and the price..

It also reminds me of our dining table from Arhaus Furniture:

the "furniture man" in Santa Cruz.
He takes reclaimed wood and makes beautiful handmade real wood rustic furniture. We just bought a 6 foot pine farm house table and we couldn't be happier.
He has a non-profit where he uses local resources and makes furniture. No gas omissions used to transport furniture like a retail store would have and the money goes back into the community.

ps. a photo of the table we bought

if you go to the Alameda Antiques fair http://www.antiquesbybay.com/
there is a vendor who is there every month (as long as it isn't rainy) that sells I believe handmade tables just like the one in the photo and they are beautiful and sturdy and I think they can do custom work as well. The prices are pretty reasonable (starting from around $600-$1000). There are delivery trucks outside of the antiques place that can help you take your items home for a fee.
"West elm has a modern farm dining table..."
Those aren't solid wood - They're veneer over MDF.
Seconding Wooden Duck in Berkeley! And they're having a huge sale (50% off all stock) right now, through 17 May.
I own the exact same table/chairs!
The table is C&B Big Sur. I have mine paired with a bench (also Big Sur), and also with the metal chairs which are made by Tolix, and are sold at DWR, and also available thru Pottery Barn (color::gunmetal grey).
I am really happy with the combo, but would not want to move the table around. It is extremely heavy!
I have seen the table sold thru AT's classified, they come up occasionally::good luck!

think BDDW at a reasonable price.
I beg to differ but this is the "Big Foot " table from e15 in European Oak . The big sur is a knock off. The original is wonderful.
You can find it @

Ethan Allen just brought out a more rustic looking table, too, that may fit the bill.

Wooden Duck in Berkeley is great, and they're having a moving sale! Saw one table just like this, yho it was BIG.
West Elm had something similar too. That's in Emeryville.
And Crate and Barrell, as people said.
Funny, but I believe I had a conversation with the man who designed the Big Sur for C and B (he manages the local DWR) and the impression I got was not one of knock-off, but original design.
There's always custom...
Just adding to this post of years past... the difference between the BIG FOOT table from e15 and the BIG SUR from Crate and Barrel is the e15 BIG FOOT table is made from European Oak and the legs are made from the heartwood so that there are center rings on the top of the leg. The Crate and Barrel is more affordable version but lacks the beauty of the original.
Actually... from the Crate and Barrel description:
"The rustic beauty of Big Sur lies in its solid European white oak with naturally occurring splits, cracks and knots; see additional photos. Its intricate, narrow grain is produced by a colder climate, making each piece unique. Supporting the table are four hefty legs, each crafted of a single piece of heartwood, exposing the tree's inner rings."
