Aleena is looking for some suggestions: I have been on the search for dining chairs to go with my Crate and Barrel extension dining table that is similar to the Avalon, only a little chunkier on the bottom. The table is in the need for a good painting as the top has been worn down. So my options are limitless as far as painting the table to match the chairs. I prefer a dark brown or black though, to stay neutral. I found this chair (shown above) on Amazon, but would like to find something similar for less than $200 a piece from a more reputable store or maybe something like this for a little cheaper....

I'm not sure if it's worth it to order these and risk the chance of hating them and dealing with returns. I would like for the chairs to be green with dark wood legs. Please help. All the ones from CB and Pottery Barn just cost too much for me. I'd also love if you have any other suggestions, of course. I just don't want my husband getting used to eating in the dining room!! Thanks so much.

Consider getting two chairs now and two chairs later from a place like Ethan Allen that doesn't discontinue furniture styles and fabrics every six months.
That way you'll get the quality you need and style you want as you can afford it.
Otherwise, look for sets of chairs on Craigslist and paint/reupholster as necessary.
(And what's wrong w/ your husband getting used to eating in the dining room? That's what it's for, isn't it?)
I like the Nils chairs from Ikea, the green is different but they're nice looking.

Overstock has some similar things and their shipping is almost nonexistent. Maybe this?

This is much closer but out of your price range:

Or maybe something like this from Pier 1?

The dining room should fulfill its essence, or what's a dining room for?
I read another blog where the blogger/designer finds inexpensive 'knockoffs' of higher priced items. You might want to post the question there as well: http://www.copycatchic.com/
Some people have both a kitchen table and a dining room (with table), the latter being used for more formal occasions. I assume this is what the poster is talking about.
I saw the Nils chairs at Ikea today and thought of this post. I actually like the chair you found better, but the Nils chair is more affordable and at least with Ikea you know what to expect. The green looks better in person than it does on Ikea's website.
Apdesigngirl -- THANK YOU for mentioning Copy Cat Chic. I had not heard of this site before but I love it, she has a great eye!
