Q: You know when you get an idea in your head of exactly what you want your room to look like- and you go out in search of just the perfect piece...only to find that it may not exisit...I was wondering if your readers could help me find a certain fabric.
I am desperately looking for a red chevron stripe fabric. I would have loved to buy the East Village duvet from Rubie Green- but they stopped making bedding. So I decided the next best thing would be to make something similar- for less than $90.00 a yard.
Any tips or ideas on where I might find such a lovely fabric? I feel like I have searched the whole web- but the hunt must continue!

Make your own using quilting techniques?
go to fabric stores: in person and online. i have a blue/teal chevron i got at city quilter nyc
Try Spoonflower. If someone has not already made it you can design your own!
No luck finding red, but here are some:

I would second the Spoonflower recommendation and if you need someone to design it for you, I would be happy to help out as I have designed for others based on their needs in addition to designing just for myself! I've actually been toying with a red chevron as we're redoing our bedroom and red and black are our colors.
Call Rubie Green and ask them if they can contact their vendor to see if the can get you this fabric by the yard and you can have a duvet made.
I've been looking for this, too! I keep going back to the Rubie Green site in hopes that they will solve their production problems, but I just don't think it's going to happen.
I have been up and down fabric row here in philly and have not been able to find anything that would come close to this.
I'm nervous about using Spoonflower. I can't seem to get the pattern to match up right.
Keep an eye on Paula Prass/Summer Soiree. She has chevron stripe in other colors and might come out with red.
I also suggest you sew it yourself, you'll likely be able to find a more exact color and stripe width that you like.
A duvet cover would be easy for a seamstress to make up for you if you can't do it yourself.
here's an instructable:

I did a tutorial on Curbly that shows you how to make your own chevron fabric. Just use smaller stripes and cut them in narrower strips. Message me on Curbly and I'll help you.

If you're nervous about using Spoonflower, asking a designer who uses the site and designs their own fabric regularly would be a good option as they are well-versed in using design software to successfully create a repeat.
you could buy red stripe fabric, then cut it on the bias and sew strips of it together to create a chevron. time consuming, but cheap
i found some in blue, green, pink, yellow and black...but no red. just google paula prass chevron.
i want to say i saw something similar at Ikea just a few weeks back, but I can't find it on their website to link to. But it might be worth a try.
Too funny, I was at my upholstery class last night lamenting about how I can't find a good chevron fabric and blue and white and a classmate said I should post a question on Apartment Therapy about it - and voila, the question had already been raised. Thanks to all for the help - still in search of the perfect blue & white chevron.
Found one at Hart's Fabric that is close - I think it's the same paula prass one that was mentioned... but aqua and blue might be too bold...
