Q: Hello! One of the best places to get cheap, long-lasting cookware and goods is a restaurant supply store. Does anyone know where I can find one in Chicago that's open to the public? Thanks!

I am going from memory and it has been a couple years, but I know that there was one on Milwaukee pretty close the the Grand Blue Line Stop.
Pierce in Countyside is awesome: http://www.pierceequipment.com/

I bought my stainless steel dining table here a few years ago, and picked up some pots and pans too. There used to be many other suppliers in that area too, but I'm sure many have moved on since I last looked.
Tabitha, try Northwest Cutlery, and see this post and this post for more recommendations.
Northwestern Cutlery is awesome, and there are several on west Madison that sell to the public.
Just be cautious...not everything is a great price, and much of it can be purchased elsewhere for less.
Also, the Boos company (maker of stainless steel and/or butcher block tables and islands) has an outlet store in Effingham. It's a drive, but worth it.
I haven't lived in chicago for a few years, but I remember one on Elston that was a little north of the Damen intersection.
Csass, that one is still there, but I'm stumped for the name as well.
Is this it?

It's OK ... they have supplies and cheap glassware but not much else.
The store on Elston was Edward Don, which was great. Too bad it closed a few years ago.
NW Cutlery is a good bet nowadays.

Thanks so much for all of this info! I greatly appreciate it!
This might be a bit far out into the burbs for some, but not a bad place...
