Good Questions: Spray Painting Chain with Low VOC?

Hi AT! When I moved in to my apartment, this partially painted chandelier was hanging in the dining room. I like it but I'm ready to paint the chain and ceiling mount black to match the rest of the fixture. I have two questions related to this project: 1.) Is there any reason why I can't use spray paint on the chain and cord that lives inside the chain? 2.) I'm sensitive to chemicals and wonder if there are some lower-odor spray paints out there? And if so, do they do as good a job as the standards? Any advice for this project would be helpful! Thanks, Genevieve

Great question, Genevieve! A quick search turned up a few results for low V.O.C. spray paints but what seems to be the most popular — Krylon Low VOC Spray Paint — got a mixed review from a few readers over on AT LA. We've never used a low VOC spray paint, personally. Anyone have a review or tip on good, low odor spray paints?
