I have been offered a delightful fushcia sofa from the early 60's- only trouble is, the quite delicate fabric is very split and torn on the top edge of the back seat.. I really can't afford to reupholster right now , and the sofa is so pretty I dont want to mess it up with sewing something else onto it as I would have in my tackier days gone by. I suppose I could have a throw rug live along the top permanently but has anyone ever solved this problem without it looking bad?
The rest of the sofa is in wonderful shape, its just the rips on top that are the issue. Its bones are so nice that I hope down the road I will reupholster when I get the cash together.. any advice?
