Q: I need help with this wool rug (larger photo below). I accidentally dropped an iron onto it and though it didn't burn (thank god), there are spots where the pile has become stiff and stuck together. The rug is 100% wool, so I don't know if there was an old stain or substance on it that's made it this way. The damage isn't very noticeable (there are two spots in the picture where it's slightly blotchy), but you can feel the stiffness right away.

Can this be saved at all? If so, can I do it at home or do I need to take it to a professional?
