Hello AT, I've been looking for a vendor/carpenter that does closet sliding doors. I've checked out the Sliding Door Company. Unfortunately, they're a little too expensive for me. I've seen what Home Depot and Lowes has to offer and I'm not impressed. Any suggestions?

Hi Benny- I guess it sort of depends on what type of sliding doors you had in mind? A basic set of plain closet sliding doors can be a fairly simple DIY project, but it sounds like you might be looking for something more custom if you didn't like what the big chain home-improvement stores had to offer. Does anyone have any ideas for Benny?

Try Ikea. You can take basic sliding wardrobe doors and DIY them for your wall.
This may sound crazy, but what about some sort of plexiglass? You might be able to fix it up yourself, or at the very least, get the handyman or home improvement center to cut it to size.
Do you already have the sliding tracks? You could purchase some custom handles, too.
Also, what about hospital tracks and some georgous fabric... spend some bucks on some luxurious fabric-- have them made and attach to the tracks.

We are also looking for custom sliding closet doors. We also looked at the Sliding Closet Door Co. and also cringed at the prices. You might want to check out Ganahl Lumber, although they're in Orange County, so I guess it depends on your location. But they might have references or other suggestions for you.
My son shattered his glass sliding closet door. Were can I buy a replacement?
