Dear AT,
I recently moved from California to Nashville, TN. We were finally able to purchase a home after long years of living on a military installation and renting. We finally have a place to call our own and make it our own except I am stuck.

Living in California it was easy to find great shops to find unique stuff, especially in Old Sacramento and San Fran. Modern decor wasn't hard to find. But now we live in Nashville and have no clue were to even start. I want to find a neat little shop that sells unique and rare pieces of anything! Modern stores??? I have no clue, there is no Crate & Barrel here, no Chiasso, and the closest Ikea is in Atlanta. Do you have ANY clue where to shop, my house is bare and Pier 1 is getting old...... Please help!
Thank you!
Bree
Dear Bree,
Clearly AT:Chicago is no expert on Nashville, but we know that many of our readers live south of us. Modern Nashville stores, anyone??

I've lived in Nashville my whole life and I feel your pain. I gawk at sites like this one and wonder where to buy anything similar around home in Nashville. Unfortunately, Nashville is sorely behind. The Container Store just opened in Green Hills, we finally have an Urban Outfitters in the Gulch...Anthropologie...we're getting there, I hope. I am crossing my fingers for a Crate and Barrel to open. Until then, there's a West Elm in Green Hills on Warfield Dr. There's a store on 21st Avenue S in Hillsboro Village called Retropolitan that is very unique, but pricey. Pangea is also in Hillsboro Village but is for specific tastes. And when you just need IKEA, a company called ModernNash will go to Atlanta and pick up whatever you want, but you're going to pay for it.
