Dear AT,
Once again i need some help from the audience of Apartment Therapy. We just moved into our new place, and as a stay-at-home dad/graphic designer, I am happy to say I now have an office.
The problem: this awfully BORING ceiling fixture. Anyone have any suggestion of what or where I can get something a little more interesting?
Thanks,
Adam

Adam, There is a cool company out of New York called School House Electric that makes vintage-style fixtures and shades...fairly affordable too. I think they show almost everything on their website and you can also request a catalog.

You might like the Vibia Funnel Ceiling light - clean and sculptural ( http://www.sourceoflight.net/funnel-ceiling.html ). Of course, we have no idea what your space looks like or your likes/dislikes....so this is a total shot in the dark!
I found Source of Light to have competitive pricing and a great selection of fixtures. Another bonus, if you live in Chicago, you can visit their West Town showroom. Recently I purchased a few items from them and was more than pleased with their customer service!
sorry to leave out sme vital info. The space is rather small, but perfect for a guest room/office. My taste is contemporary/modern, clean lines and soimple.
tha nks for the suggestions so far.
Crest Lighting? Craigslist or eBay too.

Most of their lighting is vintage-inspired, but they do have a selection of streamline and mid-century modern.
Try :
www.lightinguniverse.com
www.lightingdirect.com
and as a last resort
www.lampsplus.com
That said I get most of my fixtures from Lamps Plus. One fixture died and they came to my home and picked it up.
But for sheer selection, Lighting Universe and Lighting Direct seem hard to beat.
Lighting Universe has a cool art-deco wall sconce I want to get - when I can justify spending that much money on a wall sconce.
