Good Questions: Stepped Room Divider?

Hello AT,
Right now, I have a really cheap particleboard cube unit that I use for storage and as a room divider of sorts.

I want to replace it with something that does the same thing but has a bit of a 'stepped' shape to it, to reduce the visual 'heft' of the thing without dramatically reducing storage capacity.

I've seen Chinese step cabinets, and they're exactly the right idea but they're a bit too visually busy.

My taste runs towards mission style - old brass bin pulls, tiger oak, etc. Where can I find a stepped storage unit that's a bit simpler and cleaner-lines?

Optimus, tough one. Traditional solutions in the shape you like are limited, while modern solutions are many. I believe Room & Board has some variation on this tansu theme.

I'd also try ABC Carpet and Home, but that might not yield something clean-lined enough.

Solid wood cubes with doors and drawers from gothic cabinet craft. I own 24 of them and love them. They are easily configured into step storage. You can also replace their wooden knobs with metal hardware, as I did.
