Hello AT,
I am in need of assistance. We finally got our new bedspread (paris peed on the old one - and me - when i accidently shut the door to her catbox) and we are in desperate need of bedside lamps that match. Brian doesn't like his because its "dumb" he says, and i think mine is too much. they just need to match, we decided...

Our bedroom is this green color, our bedside tables are white laquered pottery barn shelf things. There are mirrors above each table.
I think the lamp needs to be round, because there's already a lot of sharp angles going on with bed, table, mirror.
please help me find one.

is it a red lamp we need like this?
would that be too much?
I have other ideas as well at this link on my blog.
Thank you, Jamie
Jamie,
You go girl! You have a very nice bedroom and we feel your pain in the bedside lamp department (we also feel Brian's).
This is a highly subjective decision, but we'd say that you already have a good deal of strong dark accents (the bedframe, the picture frame and the side table) and you have enough red in the bedspread, so we'd go lighter on the two lamps - white, in fact.
We agree with you on matching and on roundness, so our pick of your two options here would be the double round that you have in a bunch of colors, but we'd choose white.
Anyone else?

I think I'd go white too, but red isn't bad.
The white lampshade with black trim looks great, though. I hope you keep that look. Very crisp.
LOVE the bed, but I'm a canopy hound.
Check out these handmade lamps by Amanda Rodd, I have "Sasha" in pink in my bedroom and absolutly love it. The come in many round-ish organic forms and great colors that would complement your bedroom.

I like the red, but white would also work. I've been looking for a red table lamp myself. Do you mind sharing where that is from?
I think you should go with the round #3 or #5, clear glass bases. Your bedspread is very busy and is the focal point plus the wall colour is a good contrast. If you decide to go with the clear frames with a really rich cream might work.
By the way, is that the peeing culprit Paris under the bed? ;)
good luck with your decision and please share the finished product.
Where did you get the fabulous bedspread?
I love your color combinations and the bedspread is a real beauty! I would choose a soft white lamp....
I'm a little confused - is this actually a picture of your bedroom? It would help to see the bedstands and mirrors you describe... could you update the picture? That would definitely help us advise!
In general, I like the idea of just white (or white and glass). Let the spread stand on its own!
although i love those lamps - i really don't understand why people would pay more than 100 for a lamp.
thanks for the input everyone!
i think you're right on with the white options.
That is paris under the bed!
the bedspread is a suzani from ebay. just search suzani, and you'll get a ton of great options.
marcie, i know its confusing. that picture is not updated. if you'll check the post on my blog, you'll see better pictures.
I think that if you are going to pick the red lamp then make sure you change the color of your flowers on top of the bedside table. Make sure the flowers sharply contrast the lamp that you buy. It will make the lamp "PoP" and create an interesting silhouette against the lamp itself.
I am not sure what your budjet will allow but you may want to invest in some custome window treatments. Your window is a wonderful element of your room and I cannot help but to think that if properly played up it could connect all the pieces in the room together and highlight a great view.
I know you just asked for lamp advice so I hope you dont mind the window treatment encouragement.
I would go with wall sconces. You seem to have precious little surface space next to the beds and lamps will take up some of that needed spaces.
I'm in love with the Clodagh sconces:

I think a glass lamp from Simon Pearce would be nice - I love the glass lamp you have but agree you could use something smaller.

Forget the lamp, where did you get the table that the lamp is on?
It's not round, but it IS on sale.

Hi, just went on ebay to check out the bedspreads. how long did it take for delivery and did it look worn?
I see a couple I'd like to choose one from.
B-T-W, when you make your lamp decision and finish your room please share.

for the bedspread -- it takes about 15 business days to ship
I love the bedspread too. I never knew about Suzani textiles. Thanks for the information.
