Apartment Therapy DC reader Kathy needs help finding a throw for her new couch: "Hi there AT. Just bought a new couch not too long ago and I think Jonathan Adler's Richard Nixon throw blanket would be the perfect accessory. However, I don't think my wallet would be too happy with the $300 price tag. I'm looking for something with a similar geometric print & range of colors (particularly fond of the orange one). I'm wondering if there are any readers out there that know of an equally cool, but cheaper, option? Take care,
Kathy"

Kathy,
We suggest trying Etsy if you want something handmade; you might even be able to commission a piece similar to your inspiration throw. Does anyone else have a favorite resource to share with Kathy?

Sheex Bedding
Try http://www.pillowsandthrows.com. Sometimes they have really good stuff in their sale section.
i am looking for the same thing. we like these things but seriously, $300 for a throw?
Well, considering that it's 100% baby alpaca, I think that might be the reasoning behind the price tag.
Send Granny $200 worth of alpaca yarn and ask her to knit one for you?
Sometimes there just isn't a cheaper alternative.
Or maybe there is a DIY alternative: find an orange throw and sew some white ribbons on it?
Frankly, you might be better off with a solid Hermes-orange throw instead. This looks great now, but it's very trendy and will look dated soon.
these look yummy!

The Nixon pattern is a classic MCM iconic pattern that JA just "borrowed". As such, I would not call it trendy and it is not likely to appear dated in the future.
If you love it and plan on having it for a long time, $300 is a more than fair price considering the material and craftsmanship.
