Good Questions: Making an Old Couch Work in a New Rental?

Apartment Therapy DC reader Katy needs help designing her new rental:"Three questions: I just moved into a small condo in a historic building that I'm renting. Turns out that the color of my couch is almost identical to the color of the walls and my landlord has said no to the idea of me painting whatsoever. Bummer! Any ideas on how to make this work? Or am I making a big deal out of nothing? My second issue is the windows in my new space – they're quite large and there's a few of them! Any ideas on stylish yet affordable window treatments? Finally, area rugs! I'm still searching for the perfect area rug for this space. Ideas? Thanks in advance!"
