Good question. We're hearing about babymoons constantly lately- in the magazines and on the news. But you're right, there's no need to go for a package labeled as a "babymoon."
If you want to stay in the U.S., how about Florida? Or how about a southern getaway- try Atlanta, Charleston, or Hilton Head.

We babymooned in Gatlinburg. We rented a cabin, relaxed, and hiked through the Great Smokey Mountains. It was cheap and easy.
Without knowing your budget, where you are in the US and how far you are willing to travel (are you willing to fly?), this is a tough one. But with all options still open, I would recommend St. Barths as possibly the most restful, relaxing and beautiful place in the world. Deals to be had "off season" starting in April.
My husband and I just got back from our "babymoon" in Sedona, AZ. We stayed at L'Auberge for three nights - private cottage, spa day, great meals, and gorgeous drives and walks in the red rocks. It's pretty inexpensive this time of year, but it was chilly, so if you're looking for warm weather, this isn't the time to go.
I vote for Sedona AZ - it is so amazing perfect for a "baby moon" And the good thing is that if you don't get in a restaurant by 8pm you are left without food :-) - not good for New Yorkers but good in the sense that you go to bed early - got some deserved rest and sleep - that will be in shortage soon, and wake bright and early and enjoy the blue skies and red rocks of Sedona - if you feel strong can drive for a day trip to the Grand Canyon - lovely.
I personally am taking a trip to Palm Springs, hoping for warm weather, sitting by the pool with a good book (War and Peace - I figured I can finish it in a week) I have done this before in a resort and it is so beautiful out there. My hubby will be in a conference - but in the evening we still can have time together.
what on earth is a babymoon? Do you take your baby with you? Do you leave him/her at home (if, so, with whom?). Am totally mystified.

Babymoon is a pre-baby vacation for expecting parents.

I'm a HUGE fan of Palm Springs. If you pick the right resort (like the Viceroy) you never have to leave. Swimming, massage, great room service......
Just typing this makes me want to book a room...
With Travis, we had our "babymoon" in Las Vegas! It wasn't intended to be a babymoon... we received tickets to see Elton John as a combined birthdays gift, and it happened to fall when I was about 27 weeks pregnant so that was our "last hurrah." This time around, if we can swing it, I would love to take a babymoon to Ojai, CA. It is just east of Santa Barbara, and it is very quiet, beautiful, and really artsy and funky (I found the best thrift store there). I would love to stay at the Emerald Iguana (we stayed at the Blue Iguana before - Emerald Iguana is adults-only) and have a nice massage in the room. Definitely look up Ojai if you are interested in something in California that is not as popular as Palm Springs.
We went to Key West for 5 days. It was very relaxing and the food was amazing. We stayed at the Duval House and we were within walking distance to everything.
When I first read the question Sedona, AZ came to my mind also. I see it is pretty popular here. We stayed at Boots and Saddles B&B, which is highly rated on Trip Advisor. Good luck!
My husband and I took a 6-day trip to Victoria, B.C. during our adoption wait. We rented a beautiful condo on a lake only 15 minutes from the city. It was so relaxing and relatively inexpensive (we ended up spending quite a bit, but only because we ate at a lot of really nice restaurants)! We went in June and highly recommend it.
