Allyson mentioned in the comments of a recent post that she had wallpapered her nursery in ferm LIVING Kid's Dotty wallpaper. We had to see! Not only did she send photos of her darling room, but she posed a really good Qood Question:So here are those pictures of our Dotty- wallpapered nursery! It was tough to get good shots because the room is so tiny, all the angles are a little odd, but you get the idea! We are trying to decide whether to hang anything on the walls or just let it be all about the wallpaper...
We decided to go straight to the source and ask an expert - someone who practically lives and breathes wallpaper: Christiana Coop of ferm LIVING. Here's her advice to Allyson:
The room looks SO CUTE! And Allyson did such a fantastic job with the wallpaper – adorable! I think because she applied the wallpaper on all the walls in the room that a simple framed piece of artwork would look really nice. My instinct would be to do a red frame just to make the artwork pop from the ceiling more and to play up the red from the lovely mobile. A white frame would definitely work well though, too. Generally, I wouldn’t recommend hanging art on wallpaper if the wallpaper is used as an accent wall because in that instance, the wallpaper is acting more as art. But, since the paper is used more like a backdrop on all the wall throughout the room, I think that adding in a piece of art is a great idea.
Our instinct is similar to Christiana's and we also love the idea of adding more red. If you were worried about artwork getting lost on the walls you could hang brightly colored mirrors or even empty, painted frames. Readers - what do you think?
(Thanks for sharing this with us Allyson!)
