A DIY material sourcing question:
I can't seem to find Contact paper that isn't matronly or just plain corny. Where should I look? Help! A Frustrated DIY-er.
There some affordable and stylish contact papers online via Amazon, our favourite being the various faux wood designs (the black toile is nice, but perhaps crosses over into the "matronly" realm?). The Container Store also carries some modern-simple designs, though we're not sure about the scented feature. And be sure to peruse the selection at Designyourwall.com. Though it's a bit over the top, the camouflage design is kinda keen, and they have various other designs, colours and metallic finishes to choose from. But perhaps the best place to start off is at Target...check out the lovely green "non-granny" design shown here.

The latest batch is seriously ugly, but I found some quite fab contact paper from Martha Stewart at Kmart.
Same here: Martha Stewart at Kmart.
Ace Hardware's website has some options, both cool and seriously ugly!
The Container Store has a really nice selection. Worth checking out.

YEAH!
Target has a lot of great contact paper designs. They even have one that is a thin layer of aluminum with adhesive backing (I am not sure if this qualifies as contact paper or not - but is very similar.).
I was shocked to find lots of wood grain contact paper at ALBERTSON's. Go figure.
AH! Thank you all! Now I have to choose.... BTW, www.designyourwall.com is unfreakinbelieveable, I love it. Frustrated DIY-er no more! :)
My apartment's cabinets have an ugly white veneer. I'm thinking about covering them with contact paper. Has anyone tried that? How does it look? Did it leave a sticky film?
Yes, HUGE sticky film! Don't cover anything you plan on uncovering at some point, or you'll be scrubbing with goo-gone 'til your fingers bleed. Plus, I've tried covering a few things, they never look all that good.
