I think the lamp is too big for the table. The height is ok but I think it's too wide. If only you could find a tall skinny version of that lamp!

I think you need smaller lights or bigger tables. Your lamp would look better on a MCM piece. You've got what looks to me like Hollywood Regency tables with modern lamps -- not that you can't mix peices, but given the hide rug, I'd go with an austere wood table.

It needs something of a soft fabric to dangle in the lamp hole, and stop it from looking so stark. Try stringing beads in the colour of your blankets on a grey cord and then attach with glue?

I also think the lamp is too big. I think the lamp would look good on a credenza or something with more space to let the lamp 'breathe'.

Regardless, I think the lamp base is too wide for the table. The nightstands, though beautiful, don't offer much real estate so I'd probably go for a light with a very narrow base, an articulated floor lamp or something mounted on the wall.

I vote for a smaller lamp. Looks too big on the table, and takes away attention from the table which is pretty fab.

I like the lamp, I like the table. I don't like them together. The lamp on top of the table next to the stacked pillows looks bizarre. Tweak these minor things and you have a great bedroom (your bedroom already looks wonderful!)

The lamp and table are okay, it's the rest of that room that is freaking me out. Align your furniture with the windows... not half and half. Go with one shade of bedding. Get those books off the floor. What is the point of worrying about the lamp and table?

Love the tables and the lamp, just not together. Lamp is awesome but too large for the tables. I think a small hanging pendant over each would look great. Good Luck! Love the colors in your room.

Beautiful table, beautiful lamp, but together the scale is off. You need a smaller and/or thinner type of lighting, whether it's a sconce, a pendant or just a narrower table lamp.

i also think you definitely need a smaller lamp- shorter and with a thinner lamp base. i'd go with something simple- so as not to detract from the table you love (which i love too).

or maybe even a pendant- since yout table top is on the small side.

Way too big. I would go for a slim tensor style black light. IKEA has many like the HUSA work lamp. It will afford good reading light, and will play off of the regency style with a modern twist. The shape also adds some architectural edge into a scene that is somewhat fluffy. (not in a bad way!)

I sleep at the edge of the bed, so I prefer a side table that is lower than the edge of the mattress, orelse I wake up afraid I'm about to lose an eyeball.

Always perplexed why someone would say that they "hate" someone's furniture, as if anyone else here cares that some random person "hates mirrored furniture." This person was nice enough to share their private space, and gracious enough to ask for advice. The tables are beautiful, like jewelry for the room.

I agree with others that the lamp is too large for the table, although I think the tables are lovely. My suggestion is that you need to offset the smooth, shiny and cold feeling of the mirror table with something more rustic/natural or industrial looking in a smaller scale to create some contrast. Maybe something like burl wood or an antler lamp would be cool.

Nice lamp, nice table, but not for that location together. I like my nightstands to be no more than 3 inches higher that the top of the mattress - yours seems too high for next to the bed. And a lamp shouldn't really have more visual weight than the table it's on. Since the mirrored surface of the table kind or recedes, all I see is the large dark shade.

A lower table that is larger so as not to make the combo look top heavy would be great.

Yep, too big. I think nightstands look better a little lower than the bed height, also, but that's my two cents.

Ignore the naysayers! I think it works. Even though it's wide, the fact that it has an open base keeps it from overpowering.

And to me, the deciding factor is shade height, and the mass relative to the bed & bedding.

Tables are lovely! With the size of the lamp though, you can't really put anything else on the table. I would suggest wall sconces.

I know that this is a site about coordinating your home decor and all... but really, I think that if you walk into your bedroom and think it looks restful/stylish, then it "works" perfectly. Not everything we like has to be judged.

I vote no, but the bigger question is it meeting your functional needs? Is it easy to turn off and on when you are in bed? standing up? is it comfortable for reading or other bed activities? Could you knock it off the table? is there enough room on the table if you look to put stuff there?

I like both the lamp and the table. But maybe the lamp could use a smaller lamp shade to be used with that table. Good luck i hope you find a solution that gives you peace of mind in your relaxing looking bedroom.

I like both the pieces, as do many here, but I agree that the scale seems wrong. I think you would be better off with different night stands, though. The mirrored ones are lovely, but they seem too small for the bed to me. (If they were mine, I'd consider getting a piece of glass cut to be a console table supported between the two nightstands. If there is space elsewhere in the room, you could still use them for the glitz -- maybe even with that lamp -- but then you could get more functional nightstands. I have a pair of shaker style tables as nightstands, and I could see them in your room too.

That said, I'm not SO bothered by your combination that if you feel happy with it I'd insist you should change.

With a lamp that big, it's not really a nightstand anymore, is it? It's now a "lampstand." You can't even put an alarm clock on there, let alone a glass of water or a book. Kind of defeats the purpose.

i know it seems like they'll be too dim, but a 13w fluorescent has equivalent output to 60w incandescent. just get one with a warm lumen thing so it's a softer light.

The individual elements are pretty. But, it is not cohesive. For instance you say you want a romantic feel to the room, but I get a contemporary/eclectic vibe from the lamp. Also, I don't know the layout of your room but the way I see the curtains behind gives off a cluttered vibe. For the lamp, I am imagining something quaint with a black iron base and a pretty shade?
