Shannon was in a quandary this past spring about a window treatment for an oddly shaped nursery window and she asked our fabulous Ohdeedoh readers for suggestions. Well, she took one reader's advice and is quite happy with the result. The window treatment solution and a detailed photo after the jump.

Above is the window in question and here's a summary of Shannon's problem: I love the natural light, but our little one is waking up with the sun every morning, and the room gets really hot in the late afternoon. I priced custom shutters, but they're ridiculously expensive. Any ideas on a window treatment that we'd be able to open and close so that we're not permanently blocking light?

At the advice of a reader, Shannon purchased an Umbra cable rod system that fit the bill. We decided to go that route and had two simple panels with blackout lining made. While the top of the triangle is still open, I've been really pleased with how much light and heat the panels block when they're pulled together.

Once again, proof of our readers' ingenuity and resourcefulness! We hope this is useful to anyone else with funky shaped windows. Thanks for sharing it with us, Shannon!
