Hello AT, I'm in charge of ridding Rhode Island of the lighthouse and anchor motif. I have a black wrought iron spiral staircase. Any ideas on how to faux it w/o fauxing it up. Thinking a stainless or aluminum look. Thanks. Jim Nellis Looks like Rhode Island is in for a whooping. It could be a lot of work, but the nicest thing we can think of would be to strip it down to the metal and then cover it with a clear lacquer. Barring that, you could explore the cool radiator paints that come in glossy silver and are TOUGH. Depending on your decor, a really shiny, warm bone white could be killer as well. In general, we are saying keep it uniform and less is more. Send us pics! MGR Another thought - a friend just cut thick leather pads for the tops of the treads on his metal staircase. Nice. This is another place to detail....
