Dana sent us an email: I'm starting to plan a move back to Chicago and I want to start over with a minimalist bang. I'm collecting photos for inspiration and I've come across the same platform bed twice and I adore the silhouette it offers for a bed. I've googled everything I could think of but can't seem to find where I could get it...
Email questions and pics with QUESTIONS in subject line to:

Is there something I'm missing, or anyone who knows what this is? I adore the site, by the way. So good!
Can anyone ID the bed or suggest something similar for Dana? Let her know in the comments below...thanks!

White Enamel Four-P...
this room is soooo sad.
looks like a futon, not an actual bedframe.
The reason you're not finding anything is that it's not a platform bed. It's a futon on a wooden frame. It'll probably fold up like a really low couch if it's like my old roommate's. I'd guess that any futon shop would have one like it.
Even though it's not, it looks very similar to a futon from IKEA (http://www.ikea.com/no/no/catalog/products/S29817421)
I'd bet that this futon frame is from IKEA.
(the side table is an IKEA TV stand)
I agree - it's a sad, drab room.
IKEA used to have a bed frame like that has since been discontinuted. but, just used one of their futon frames. However, it is unfinished pine so i hope sharp edges and splinters are your thing....
that looks so painful to me. might as well sleep on the floor.
I understand the look you are going for, but my back aches thinking of that mattress. I slept on a futon mattress for about a year when I lived in a studio apartment and I think I'm still having lower back problems as a result (I'm in my early 20s!)
Get a bed height platform bed; your overnight guests will appreciate it.
Is this minimalism, or is it camping?
You could build that in an afternoon with some 2x4's and 2 sheets of plywood. Depending on how nice the plywood you choose is, it could cost as little as $50 to build.
just looks like a ridiculous waste of money to me. why wouldnt you just put your mattress on the ground at this point?
That's the IKEA futon frame. I'm almost positive, since I purchased one to use temporarily last fall.
I'd sleep on a mattress on the floor for a couple of months first to see how you like it. At first it seems like no big deal, but over time you may start to find it incredibly annoying. I did. I now have an Ikea Malm for that bed and it's low and minimalist without being floor camping.
That's a futon in the bed position. You can get one at any futon store for about $100 (or less on Craigslist). I slept on one for a year when I lived in New York, and it's fine if you have a good futon mattress.
Yeah that's an ikea futon. I really like low beds, and use this futon as my primary bed for more than 2 years and had no issues. The BF at the time had no issues with it either.
This isn’t the same bed but I think it has a similar intention and it’s made by some one local.

Like Jose, I also sleep on a futon and like it. I know some people on this site do not like futons, but everyone has their own personal preference. The frame looks like the Ikea futon frame, but if you do get that one do not use the Ikea futon mattress (they suck) Go to a futon store and get a high quality, thick mattress, they are worth it.
I slept on a futon like this for 3 years. It worked for me though. When people asked why I chose to sleep on a bed that low, I just quoted one of my favourite Ab Fab episodes where Eddie talks about how she can just roll from one side of the room to the other without having to get up. That reference is lost if you're not into Brit comedy. Anyway, to make it more comfortable, I would suggest getting a regular spring mattress, NOT a futon mattress. You will feel the slats under the futon mattress if you just go with that. I was pretty ghetto and used an old sofa bed mattress under my futon mattress, but once you put the duvet on and everything, no one else noticed.
its called a pallet?
you can steal one from any local shipping yard.
The side table is an IKEA TV stand!!!! I used to have that stand. The one in the photo was INCORRECTLY assembled... that's why you can see the two black circles on the outside. IKEA is awesome but PLEASE put it together right!!!!
I know it's not the same but I think this Ikea bed frame is somewhat similar:

You'd be raised off the ground but it's still very minimal. I had my mattress on the ground before and it could be a pain to get so low every time you needed to tie your shoes, sit, etc.
