This question comes from Jenny:
I am looking for a recycling bench... a bench that stores the recycling underneath a bench top that flips up. Does something like this exist?
We thought we'd throw this one out there and see if anyone is familiar with a similar product? We haven't seen anything like this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or a DIY solution?

I've never seen this before. I guess depending on where this bench is going (inside v. outside) and what your primary purpose is (hide v. protect), you could possibly alter an existing bench with hinges , or just get some nice vintage boxes to place under a bench like that shown above (I think that would look really nice, although there is something about sorted recycling that makes me happy).
I think that a hope chest might be what you are looking for? I've seen a few in thrift shops (not recently though) which were a nice size with a hinged lid. They were strong enough for my husband to sit on while he put on his shoes. We used our to store shoes in.
Alternatively you could have one made as it's not a complicated thing to construct if you are handy with power tools and wood.

steamer trunks on ebay or craigslist in your area?
You could use a trough shaped planter and attached a hinged lid to it for sitting.
