Good Questions: Small Scale Natural Gas Grills?

Hi Apartment Therapy, We recently downsized into a condo from a suburban house and we're excited to have a large patio with a natural gas line for grilling. The problem is that most of the natural gas grills are GIGANTIC — we don't need a grill with 5 burners, a refrigerator and a cook top! We did find a smaller and sleeker option from Ducane, but we're unsure of the quality and wondered if anyone had any experience with Ducane grills or sources for other small-scale natural gas grills? Thanks!

The Ducane 3100 seems a good fit for you, but we'd love to hear what others have learned from experience with smaller-scale gas and especially natural gas grills.

There's the Element by Fuego. Set up for propane cylinders but they do sell a converter for natural gas.

I have a slightly older Ducane model than the one pictured and I selected the propane option (in case I decide to move at some point). From what the salesperson told me at the time, the choice of fuel type doesn't make much of a difference with this grill.

I'm satisfied with this model, but I would probably choose something different next time...something with more BTU's.

I used to have a Ducane natural gas grill and I loved it. Even heating, no muss, no fuss. I, too, don't need my grill to do everything but the dishes.

The only major bummer is that I couldn't take it with me since it's so rare to find a place with a natural gas line.

We have a Ducane natural gas grill very similar to the one in the picture. We had the natural gas line put in so we wouldn't have to bother with Propane tanks. The grill works great for us, and I would buy one again.

The Element by Fuego is so much better looking (and seemingly smaller) than the Ducane.

The Weber Q is fantastic! The cast iron cooking grate makes a huge difference, it retains heat and has narrow gaps that make grilling veggies quite easy.
