In one of the Apartment Therapy emails there was a photo of this stool at Intelligentsia. I love the clean, modern but fun design of it and was wondering if anyone knew where they were from? Could anyone confirm that it is wood on steel? My eyes might be playing tricks on me and the brown could just be a very earthy coloured powder coat. -Vanessa
Like Maxwell, who seemed to be at Intelligenstia down the street from us the whole time he was here in Los Angeles, we too love the beautiful and minimal bar stools that line around the counter. The eight barstools were custom-fabricated by Monte Ross with Douglas fir tops, sitting ontop of painted blue stainless steel legs. They were designed by local Silver Lake architect, Barbara Bestor for the Intelligenstia interior. The stools beautifully compliment the Carrera marble bar and the Nicaraguan blue and white tile you see in the photo above, don't they?
NOTE: Barbara Bestor wrote in to say that anyone interested in these stools can order them directly from her. Contact: Barbara Bestor Architecture.

Who doesn't want to move into Intelligentsia? The gorgeous floor, the open "kitchen", that great outside space! I bought myself a "Fusti" to hold my water just like they had and I love the color of those stools! I can never find an open one though so i don't know if they are comfy!
So elegant!!! Does anyone know if Monte Ross has a website and if he has a ready made line of furniture or if he only does custom furniture commisions?
Haruki: note the additional sourcing information above. Hope you order a couple.
