“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things - air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky - all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” - Cesare Pavese
This quote makes us happy on two separate planes: we love the inspiration to travel and experience new environments, but it also makes us remember to take note of our own surroundings. We've tried to finely curate the things we keep around us, especially when living in such a small space.
What are your favorite elements about your home that you appreciate--specifically when you're away?

My bed and bedding...the ability to completely sink into and enjoy every single sensory aesthetic of it...without worry and wonder.
This is why I enjoy cruising with friends and family: We see the same stewards, bartenders, waiters and officers on the same ships year after year and enjoy the same comfy bed for the week or two - but I also wake up to a different island/port/city every day without the packing and unpacking.
While in hotels and at family member's homes there are a fair number of things that I miss from my own home (The better the hotel, the less I miss) but there's actually very little from home other than a cheap and fast internet connection that I miss while I'm at sea.
Just the comfort of being in my own home. Knowing that the people I love the most share this space with me makes it feel so much better to come back too, especially from a vacation!
And agree with muirwoods. Nothing like your own bed!!
