Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful. --William Morris

I love that quote. I try to live by it and "one in, one out"
It's the second part of that quote that screws me, since I find so many things to be beautiful!
I hear this in my head at least once a day! Very helpful for curbing the impulse buy.
I actually find this more useful for clutter clearing than the motto in the AT book, which is something like: 'Do you love it? Do you use it? Does your home need it? If you can't say yes to all three, put it in the outbox.' I have lots of things in my home that are vital, but I certainly don't love.
what is the wallpaper in the picture? beautiful.
It's easier for me to "curb the crave" when I really think about at least 3 places to put the thing. Most of the times I can't even find one, and sometimes I just go for it. So far, I'd say 75% of everything we have has worked out great, the other 25% is stuff "the wife" doesn't want to give up. If it was for me, I'd burn all those old t's, towels, 3000 pieces of kitchen ware, and shoes... but back to the quote; it only works if you're the only person living with you.
"A cluttered house is a cluttered mind."
So an empty house is an empty mind?
Maybe, but my place is cluttered with beautiful things. Maybe only keep things that are useful AND beautiful. :)
