Q: I love candles, but I recently read about how they can be full of chemicals which get into the air when you burn them. So, I would like to buy some all-natural candles, and just wondering if someone can recommend an online source, especially for tealights? And are beeswax or soy candles better?

Editor: Ella, we've had good experiences with Bee Hive Candles. When we placed an order for their 100% beeswax tea lights, they were shipped the next day. And the candles smell like honey. They're really nice.

I'm a big fan of The Blackberry Briar :) http://theblackberrybriar.net
Wayoutwax.com sells lots of soy candles scented with essential oils. Also,I love the beeswax candles available at: bigdipperwaxworks.com. They're also selling a good selection at Whole Foods. Enjoy!
Fair Field Farm Candles offers handmade, all-natural soy candles with amazing scents--and at a fraction of the cost of other soy candle suppliers ($7-$11 for handmade candles in beautiful glass tureen jars). My fave scents are pineapple cilantro, cranberry spice, and red currant.

Etsy!!! They have many types including soy and beeswax.
Hi Ella,
You have read correctly, there is a concern about candles made with petroleum (paraffin). A new study on the effects of paraffin candles proves there are toxic chemicals that emit from paraffin candles when burned ~ that do NOT emit from soy candles.
Soy candles and beeswax candles may differ in appearance, however they are both "natural" waxes and have not been shown to emit toxins when burned in candle form.
Be sure to purchase soy candles from a reputable company and don't hesitate to ask questions. Believe it or not, companies are only required to add about 10% soy or beeswax to be able to call their products "natural candles". Look for Soy Tea Lights in bulk to save money.
Hope that helps!
