It's no secret we're fans of Goodbye Detergent!, the brand of cleaning products designed to reduce the need for chemical cleaning agents. Soon the line will expand to include a Kitchen Scraper, which is designed to scrape off food before cleaning, thus cutting down on water and detergent use. Also on the way is a new Clean Kitchen Set, perfect for an eco-friendly housewarming present ... or as a spring gift to yourself!
According to Goodbye Detergent!, the Kitchen Scraper "can be used to scrape off excess food from plates, bowls, cookware, or bakeware before cleaning. Scraping plates saves water and reduces the need for detergent." With its integrated hook, the scraper looks like it could be hung on a kitchen rail or on the side of a dish rack for easy access.
The Kitchen Scraper will be sold individually and as part of the new Goodbye Detergent! Clean Kitchen Set, which will also include a Gentle Original Spaghetti Scrub (made from peach pits), Coarse Original Spaghetti Scrub (made from corn cobs), Stainless Steel Kitchen Cleaning Pad (made from recycled plastic), and two Heavy Duty Kitchen Cleaning Pads (made from natural alumina). Both are scheduled for release in May.

Um, wouldn't a rubber (or silicone) spatula that you already own be a better choice for this? That's what I use, anyway.
I just use a fork or spoon for scraping! Not quite as clean as a rubber spatula, but I just read an article the other day that dish detergent (especially for dishwashers) actually works BETTER if it has something to clean. So rinsing is not only not necessary, it doesn't get your dishes as clean in the dishwasher.
As long as there's not big chunks of food on the plates, I'm happy to wash them (by hand, alas).
Yeah, I just use a spatula.
My dish cleaning regimen is not complicated enough to require the seven items in the "green" kit.
