There have been reports that Google has its own ride hailing service in the works. Yesterday, Google-owned crowdsourced traffic app Waze announced that users in Tel Aviv can use a new product called RideWith to carpool in the traffic-heavy city.
The service is available only during standard rush hour times and helps connect drivers and potential riders, such as neighbors with similar commutes.
Drivers can opt-in to the service via the Waze app, and riders need to download a separate RideWith app. At the end of the ride, the service suggests a fee that's equivalent to gas and wear and tear, split amongst riders.
