Google introduces their near field communications technology for retail transactions. But are Americans ready to follow the footsteps of our Asian country counterparts and ditch carrying around credit cards?
Google Wallet enables you to pay with your Citi MasterCard credit card and the Google Prepaid Card, which can be funded with any of your existing plastic credit cards. As a thanks to early adopters, we're adding a $10 free bonus to the Google Prepaid Card if you set it up in Google Wallet before the end of the year.
At this time this new Android app is a Sprint exclusive, with Citi and MasterCard initial launch partners. According to Google, Visa, Discover and American Express have made their NFC specifications available to the team for future Google Wallet compatibility. We have high hopes NFC mobile payment systems are rolled out for coin-eating services like parking meters and washing machines.

looks like a great idea - but using your phone as a credit card is starting to bleed into my comfort zone. you really only need one credit card when your out and about, but you also need your insurance, license, and registration too.
After my Google account was hacked a few years back I am more than a bit reticent to add more critical info to it.
@FightTheFuture:
You only need one but its good to have two in your wallet. Its good to have a backup for those times where your primary card won't work or what happened in my situation, I was about to pay and my card wouldn't go through. When I called the CC company they told me I used it in a place where there was a lot of reports for CC fraud or something. Those btards didn't even inform me and only found out when I was paying, good thing I have a backup.
I have two credit card and one debit card in my wallet. I always use credit card and only use debit card whenever the merchant doesn't accept credit card (I use my debit card to withdraw cash). I am don't use my debit card to purchase directly.
Wait - that picture shows a Windows Phone....
I like it though. ;)
