We rely a lot on Google Maps for local directions and use it quite heavily on the mobile phone when out of town. While the directions are usually pretty good, when we were off on business trips (and coincidentally in the middle of the city without a car) using Google Maps for walking directions became an exercise in self serve route planning.
With walking directions now in beta for Google Maps, there are no more one way streets screwing up your route....and only 43 days and 17 hours to walk from New York to San Francisco.

Oh, this is great!
I could swear I'd seen a map site with walking directions before and I thought it was Google maps, but I guess I was wrong. This is nice, though. Much easier way of figuring out if that cool place I just heard of is near my office or not.
While they are at it, why not add bike route with designated bike lanes and grade levels for the hills? Oh, and nice stay away from this intersection if you value your life (like octavia and market) tips.
Yipee!!!!!
I've been using this: http://www.hopstop.com/
Or just modifying the driving directions on google maps.
