I want a tablet so bad, but Apple's iPad price tag just doesn't agree with my bank account and (sorry Windows fans) anything running Microsoft scares me. I've been a big fan of the Android OS since testing Motorola's Droid cell phone, so I have high hopes for any tablet that plans to run the Google made operating system. When I heard el goog, as I like to call them, was working on the actual hardware side of things I got even more excited about the idea of finally getting a tablet into my hands.
Rumors are swirling that Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, leaked info about the company's tablet work to friends at a recent LA party -- not to be confused with an LA Reid party. According to the New York Times, "People with direct knowledge of the project -- who did not want to be named because they said they were unauthorized to speak publicly about the device -- said the company had been experimenting in 'stealth mode' with a few publishers to explore delivery of books, magazines and other content on a tablet."
I just hope that, if Google launches its own tablet, that it stamps a realistic price tag on the thing.

How provincial.
'El Goog' sits on Apple's board of directors while secretly developing a competitive platform and device, sweeps in and grabs AdMob as Apple is working on a deal, and then starts working on a secret tablet right after the iPad comes out.
Android has already inspired the need for third party antivirus software on the phone and one of the top download for Android is app-killing software. Yet anything from Microsoft scares you?
Why? At least its honest about its competitive intentions and doesn't intend to risk your second most intimate piece of technology to over-the-air transmitted disease.
