I echo the "ugh"! She must be so in-love with herself to think we all want to be her! So she's going to throw us crumbs by giving us advice on "a little bit of everything that makes up my life."

Please don't compare her to Martha or Oprah. At least those two had the credibility to be lifestyle gurus.

In every interview, may it be magazine or television, she whines about how awkward and sad she always feels. When they show her photos of herself instead of complimenting the designers that made her look fabulous she complains she is fat or looks bad. You have to like yourself first before you can help others.

Anyone with money can have a beautiful home and buy good taste. She doesn't have to work hard to be in a magazine all she has to do is spend tons of money and then call her best buddies at the top design magazines.

Obviously, I'm so over her it's not even funny.

Goop is a disgusting name, and that chandelier looks like it should be made of plastic.

The trouble with lifestyle guruism is that somebody *is* listening to them... I wonder if this is another sort of fantasy-lifestyle selling... nobody actually takes the advice (or can afford to) but people keep buying the stinking magazines.

The chandelier, though, is sweet.

The only "credibility" Martha or, especially Oprah, had to be lifestyle experts is that they had made a lot of money from being on television.

I don't have a strong opinion about Gwyneth Paltrow one way or the other, but I agree that it's a bit of a disconnect to look to someone for advice on everyday life when that person was raised in an affluent home, went to private schools, is a millionaire with multiple homes in two different countries and on top of that is married to a rock star. Most people, I dare say, cannot relate to that.

I'm confused about her collaboration with Mario B. because I could have sworn that she was a vegan....

Used to be on a macrobiotic diet. I believe she gave it up after she started having kids... She's got another food show in the works.

i recently read something where she said that she doesn't eat anything with "four legs". so i guess that means chicken, fish and whatever else fits that category, no lamb, cow, etc. (i'm already rolling my eyes in anticipation of someone repeating their eating habits as the same). but i love the spain show--mainly for the inspiring food and landscape and i think batali is pretty cool.

I actually don't mind Gwyneth. Everything I've seen her on or read she came across (to me, anyways) as sincere and actually quite sweet. (She's especially been really up front about her depression, etc. which most people in the movie biz try to hide.) Sure, she has money, etc. but you do realize Martha and Oprah have MUCH more than Paltrow, yet everyone takes advice from them. And I'm with the person who pointed out that Oprah and Martha didn't have any particular "cred" when they got started ... they were just women with good taste who wanted to start a business, and then over time proved themselves to be worth listening to.

As for Gwyneth, I'm holding my opinion about this latest venture of hers until I actually see the work. In the meatime, I'm rooting for her.

Personal attacks aside, I don't really buy into the lifestyle Ms. Goop is selling. But then, I don't get the Kate Spade mystique or wanting to look like a character from The Hills. Also, as a web designer, I wouldn't share my product at this stage of development. Without substance, the copy comes off as incredibly pretentious and directionless.

I think now adays, many actors feel they need to wear a bunch of hats for when work slows down(or stops.) No one can just be an actor anymore. You have to have a restaurant, be a clothing designer. Do you see Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks with clothing lines/fragrances/life guru blogs?

That's not to say that if you don't have something actually worth while to share, that you can't. So, we'll see where Ms. Paltrow's new endeavor goes. Preachy and out of touch..."Hey everyone! This $45,000 rug is great if your kids have allergies. Madonna gave it to me!" Or plausible... "A simple poultice of cayenne pepper and mint leaves helps your child sleep at night during flu season. I learned that on a trip to Malawi with Madonna." (Hey, maybe because of her celebrity access to things, she might just have a few really good tips!)

I don't see how this idea is any different than any other celeb blog (and many of them have one) so I don't get all the hatred. She's not exactly a known "party" girl so I don't know why everyone is so disgusted by her. She's not the only person out there to have money. I'm interested to see where this is going but I agree she probably should have kept it secret until it was live.

Agree 100% with GQUAKER. What are we check out? There's no content except a silly mission statement. I will reserve judgement of content until there is content, but seriously as is it GOOP.com leaves her wide open for the public roasting she is getting. Why do we hate her so much? She seems only guilty of the same thing the rest of us are guilty of: celebrity obsession. In all honestly, if I had been engaged to Brad Pitt I'd think the women of the world could learn a thing or two from me. Hell, Juliet Lewis needs to be my lifestyle guru.

First off, I love Gwenneth, so it pains me to bash her. However, 'My life is good because I am not passive about it' is an outrageously pompous jackass statement.

No, your life is good because you were lucky enough to be born into money and privilage and you have enough talent which allowed you to take further advantage of that money and privilage. Had you been born in a trailer park you probably wouldn't have made it so far and your life wouldn't be as good - even if you weren't passive about it. It's not that you're not an ok actress, but you're no Hillary Swank.

Why are we all getting so knicker twisted over an article, when the article can't spell one the of most famous names in the lifestyle world. I find that more ridiculous than Gwenneth giving advice the the 9-5 er's daft enough to read it.

What little there is to see on "Goop" sounds so cliche, so self-help book, it's atrocious. It would not surprise me she has a ghost writer even for such a poor site.

Also, Stewart. The fact that it's been 4 days and it hasn't been corrected, makes me wonder how much care is truly going into this website.

It's all obscene, the value our society places on celebrity, and the wannabes who feel they need a lifestyle guru. Just be the person you are and make the best out of your life. Anything else will just make you miserable. It doesn't matter to me if GP has a blog or not, but think of what the money that chandelier cost could do for people in need, like hurricane victims. It's actually pretty sick to idolize that lifestyle. Martha at least provides actual DIY skills, perfectionistic and expensive though they are. Oprah actually used to be about becoming a better person, but now she is all about celebrity and money. Her favorite things are a joke for how wastefully expensive they are. Our values in this country are so warped.

I'm sorry, no sympathy for the depression, either. Try depression when you don't know how your going to pay your rent or bills. Just plain narcissism.

whoa. Tough crowd. I think I'll keep an eye on this site. I get inspiration from high end and low end design. I'd like to wait until the site is fully up and running to make my opinion. Do you all poo poo Architectural digest, Elle Decor, even Domino because they show rich peoples' design esthetic?

I've read a few interviews by her and yeah, she does seem like someone with impeccable taste. Considering her upbringing, the fact that she didn't end up being a complete snot like Paris Hilton actually says a lot about her. As always I'll keep an open mind.

This room was my least favorite of the rooms shown in the House and Garden spread, but I do love the chandelier. (Assuming I could afford it) I would have done it in a grey room. I don't care for the pink dishes. Hate the chairs.
