Grand Street Gardens bills itself as "your organic source". If you are interested in going truly green in your garden, it sounds like a trip to this garden center might be in your future.

Open all year, the center has extended spring and summer hours, staying open weekdays until 7 and weekends until 6.

They hold seminars throughout the season as up is Container Design: Thinking Outside the Pot, scheduled for May 5 from 10 to noon ($15.).

They sell more than just plants, containers and seeds. For your organic garden, they stock fertilizers and amendments, soils, natural weed killers and insecticides. The shop is also a source for compost bins.
