Name: Madeleine (19 months)
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
Color Inspiration: My first inspiration was the color grey. However, the more I thought of my childhood, I thought of my happy trips to Grandma's house. She raised six happy kids in close but colorful quarters! Each room was a bright pastel color like pink, blue, or purple. It may seem like too much to most people but I love it! It's comforting to be enveloped in. So I incorporated those cheery colors and vintage feel into Madeleine's room!
Tip for Using Color: I am a big believer in using what you have. Reusing or repurposing items is always a great idea. So if you have one item (dresser turned changing table, bookshelf, etc.) that can be used in the nursery start there and then add a second contrasting color that makes you happy. Like everyone says, use what you love! Or maybe use what you've never used before... kids rooms are always evolving so it's also a wonderful time to be adventurous and try something new out!
Colors Used: The walls are French Gray by Sherwin Williams (voc free Harmony line). Mostly I used the same pink and muted French blue throughout, but with loads of different patterns. I crammed herringbone, stripes, quatrefoil, horse-shoe, elephant, chevron, polka-dot, medallion, and floral patterns all in this one room! I know it's a bit much but I can't resist sewing projects during nap time!
Thanks for your colorful entry Nicola and good luck!

So adorable and welcoming. I would have LOVED this room as a little girl...actually I would love it now! Great job.
I think this room is lovely. I also think you are very brave to put a mirrored dresser in a toddler's room!
I adore this room. My grandmother was the same way. What a wonderful inspiration. Just lovely. I hope you make it to the finals.
looks great! She sure is a lucky girl

Beautiful room. Love the accessories such as the drum table.
An execellent blend of high culture and kiddy's culture. Superb use of colors to stimulate the mind and motivate creativity.
Umm, can you come and do my kids room please?!?! Amazing!!!
Gorgeous! It's whimsical and full of warmth and play. Well done. Now if I could just hire you.
Elegant and super fun at the same time! Looks like a fun place to spend the afternoon playing and a relaxing place to rest for naptime!
Gorgeous room! Gorgeous little girl!!!

This is the classiest little girls room I've ever laid eyes on! I love that the room incorporates "adult" pieces like the mirrored dresser while preserving a sweet little girl vibe. So well done!
This is a room designed for a princess! I love the French Gray and the brilliant usage of color and patterns throughout the room. It is so cozy and lovely and completely inviting! Winner.

Love the connections to memories of your visits to your grandmother's home. It is a great room for your little girl to form memories and connections as she grows.
Just adorable, so sentimental and special!
I love the color combinations of Gray & Pink!
Just adorable!
Really love this room!!! So girly for a little princess.
The harmony of the room and the attention to detail is outstanding. I could spend hours in there!! I really hope this room wins. It's the most put together room of the bunch without having a theme or trend which I'm sure would eventually get tiring. The room could last through the ages!
I love this room! I want Nicola to design my entire life!
Is that a matryoshka doll bedskirt? If so-I love it! Where is it from?
